Brú na Bóinne

One of many great places that I have decided to visit after seeing a postcard. Newgrange passage tomb is part of Brú na Bóinne UNESCO WHS. If you believe that Neolithic people were basically non-civilised cavemen, just imagine that 5 thousand years ago they have built from stones weighing over 4 tonnes a circular structure of almost 80 meters of diameter and 12 meters of height. And they made a small window just above the entry through which the sun can reach the main chamber. But only for 6 days during the winter solstice. Not such cavemen after all?
