Teotihuacan is a prehispanic city near Mexico City. The origin of this city is a mystery, nobody knows which culture was the founder of this place, when the Aztecs came to this part of the country they have found the city already abandoned. Le Morne, Mauritius

Le Morne is a peninsula at the island of Mauritius. It is highlighted by an huge basaltic monolith with a summit 556 metres above sea level. It includes several caves and rocks where slaveds used to hide. It has also seen some pirate activities in the past. From a friend met at Postcrossing.com.

Ġgantija

My husband had this colleague in the sales department. They often worked together so he mentioned her name often. But it took me a couple of years to reaalise that we spend a year in the same classroom when we were eleven. This is small world indeed.

Those megalithic structures are the Ġgantija temples in Xaghra, in Malta. They were built over five thousand years ago. UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hiroshima

This building used to be the Prefectural Commercial Exhibition in Hiroshima. Until 6th August 1945, when the world's first atomic bomb was dropped on the city. Ambohimanga in Madagascar

Ambohimanga is one of twelve sacreed mounts and traditional fortified royal settlement around Tanarive, the capital city of Madagascar. A UNESCO World Heritage Site. From Christine. And I am so sorry to admit I do not know who she is. A friend of a friend I assume.

Riga

Changdeoknung is a large palace in Seoul, South Korea and a UNESCO site. I have several postcard from this place, each amazingly beautiful. A private swap through Postcrossing.com.

SG̱ang Gwaay Llanagaay

An abandoned village of the Haida people in the Queen Charlotte Islands off the British Columbia coast. A UNESCO site that gives me shivers when I look at it. Private swap.

Valencia

La Lonja de la Seda, a former Silk Exchange is a unique masterpiece of gothic architecture that was not designed for sacral use. UNESCO WHS in Valencia, Spain. In his university days my husband participated in a project to illuminate it. The paper is thin and after all those years you see his handwriting passing on the front side. It starts with "My dearly beloved ..."

Samrra in Iraq

Samrra Spiral Minaret in a UNESCO WHS and a unique piece of architecture. A private swap. Sent in 2009 when nobody though that a plane flying in the direction of a tower is something to worry about.

Taj Mahal

My first posctard from India. And one of the most important positions on my bucket list, though as I have hear it is usually nearly impossible to see it through the crowd. A private swap.

Yazd in Iran

In 2016 a colleague from my office was talking for months that he is going to Iran. I took his trip itinerary and a highlighter. I marked all the places he will see that are UNESCO WHS and asked for a postcard from one of them. Then he has sent me this one. I was so angry.

Twelve months later Yazd was on the list.

Nazareth

I know that the Holy Gospel says that Jesus was born in a stable. But over the two thousand years people managed to turn it into quite a palace. From my husband who was there on a trip without his parents (who were there the year before but he could not join since his passport was stolen a few days earlier).

Amsterdam

Canals of Amsterdam, UNESCO WHS. They look exactly the way that I recall from my first trip to the Netherlands. I was enchanted. And I love this postcard series, I have almost twenty different pictures. . From my husband who did not manage to leave the Shiphol airport when travelling to US. But managed to send me a postcard.

Venice

PC official postcard from Venice, UNESCO WHS. When I visited Venice, I saw there post boats, bringing postcards along the canals.

Hoi An

I have agreed on several swaps with the same postcard collector from Vietnam. The very last postcard that we agreed to exchange did not arrive - he did not manage to buy one because it was to show a very remote natural park. The postcard arrived two years later, with sincere apologies and a comment "I promised and I finally I can send it to you". This is what I truly love about collecting postcards - the people who send them.

I have visited Edinburgh many years ago and I loved it. A postcard from a friend met on Posctrossing forum brought back beautiful memories.
